Dear Parents, Players, and Coaches,
The Marcellus Girls Lacrosse Club (MGLC) recently held a board meeting to
discuss current events within the club and to hold elections for offices.
Coach Fuller has decided to step down from his position as President due
to his election to the school board. It is my honor
to inform you that I was elected the new MGLC Board President. Although I am new
to the community I am dedicated to continue the work of former board members.
I feel my 15years as an educator, my years of coaching experience, and my
commitment to the sport and children will help me succeed.
The Marcellus Girls Lacrosse Club (MGLC) has worked for more than a
decade to establish and promote a youth program for the girls in the Marcellus
community. This program has developed player
programs and skill development at all levels, a positive sense of competition
where sportsmanship is fostered, and players that respect themselves as well as
others in their communities. Through the determination and hard work of the past
board members, parents, and coaches, the MGLC has secured, in conjunction with
the Lion’s Club, facilities to host games for the Upstate Lacrosse League.
We continue to grow each year by adding more players at each level as
well as more parents who are actively participating in the club.
My goals are to build a more positive relationship with the school
district while continuing to develop players that are ready to play when they
reach the scholastic sport system. We will continue
to fundraise for the girls to provide them with equipment they need and
scholarships to girls who cannot afford to try the sport.
I also would like to make the MGLC website more of a vehicle of
information to parents, players, and community. As a
board we are going to keep recruiting more girls to give them the opportunity to
try lacrosse and explore their interest in this sport.
I ask for your continued support in the club in our future endeavors as
we continue to make this a positive opportunity for the girls of this community.
Please feel free to contact me about any ideas or concerns related to the
club. I know through everyone’s enthusiasm and
continued dedication we will continue to build on this tradition.
Sincerely,
John Conklin
